Top 5 Worst Songs of the Year
If you're not interested in watching the whole song, please just let it load and fast forward to 1:53 and listen to that one verse. Promise it's worth your time.
This song is not new to the game at all but after completing deleting it from my memory I came across it once again the other day and figured I had to spread it. While the hyphy movement went on for about 6-12 months too long and every kid within 150 miles of E-40s home spot in the Valley-Joe started throwing up the thizz face, I thought The Pack's song 'Vans' was a welcome addition to Bay Area music. The song itself was painfully simple and the accompanying dance floor move was grossly ignorant (take vans off, raise them in the air and go) but it had a fresh sound and a kinda nice beat (although too much Copy-and-Paste from the Whisper Song).
When I heard they had come out with a third song (i missed the middle one evidently) I was even somewhat excited. However, this song is undoubtedly one of the worst rap songs of the past year. Two things in particular shock me about this song:
1) The chorus. I don't get the sound--are they trying to sound like really nerdy white kids? If so, why did they think this would translate into a hit? Whens the last time actual really nerdy white kids made a hip rap song?
2) The verse starting at 1:53 is the single worst rapping i've heard in my entire life. I guarantee that every single person I know, male and female, of any age or stage, given 15 minutes could come up with better lyrics. He doesn't rhyme the entire verse! How the HELL is this guy rapping on a professionally produced song? The only explanations I can think up for them giving him any run is a) he's someone's little brother, b) they owe him a ton of money and he said he'd drop the debt if they give him 30 seconds, or c) he won the chance to rap in a super serious bet.
Of equal importance, how does this song have such a well-produced music video? It's not like they threw this shit together on iMovie or something, someone had to have wasted 10-15 G's. Just horrendous.
